A Chinese bronze incense-
burner and cover modelled as
a standing quail, with well
cast detachable feathered
back, the neck and body
incised with further plumage,
the head raised to the left
with open beak. Standing on a
base of leafy tendrils.
Provenance: See the label in
image 6. This would appear to
refer to the Merrimac Ferry
which has operated across the
Wisconsin River between
Columbia and Sauk since the
mid 19th century.
